What a Typical Window Replacement Timeline Looks Like

You’ve made a wise decision to leave window replacements to an experienced contractor, such as Renewal by Andersen®. With experts installing your new windows, you can expect your project to finish on time.

Here is what a typical window replacement timeline looks like.

Preparation

After finalizing the plan for your project, your contractors will confirm the installation date and time with you. Before they arrive at your home, make sure to prepare the area where the installers will work. This means informing your household about the areas that are off-limits during the project. You should also move large items or cover them with plastic sheets to protect them from dust and debris.  In addition, remove any hanging and small items of value from walls and tables.

The First Day

Expect your contractors to arrive on time and start removing windows. Let them prioritize window replacement in your bedroom or home office so you can clean and use them within the day.

Professional window installers go through an extensive training course to deliver quality workmanship and ensure proper installation. That said, they will install each window correctly, ensuring there are adequate allowances for thermal expansion.

The crew will partially clean up project areas and remove tools and refuse materials at the end of the first day. They will also store all removed windows in a spot you assign for them. By the end of the first day, you can expect about 12 to 15 windows removed and replaced.

The Second Day

Usually, a whole-home window replacement is finished by the second day. Once done, experts will install the trim on your windows. Then, they will clean all areas, remove debris and tools, dispose of all old windows, and perform a final inspection.
