At Renewal by Andersen®, we are proud of every patio door replacement project we implement. Not just because they’re beautiful, durable, and improves your home’s energy efficiency, but also because they are secure, thanks to the security hardware that comes with every patio door. In this blog, we provide a quick tour of our patio doors’ security options.
Patio Door Security
Each Renewal by Andersen patio door comes with a specially-designed locking system. Our gliding doors feature a unique reach-out locking system that doesn’t just passively latch onto the frame, it pulls the door snugly into the jamb. In addition to enhancing security, it also creates a weathertight seal that improves energy efficiency.
An optional auxiliary foot lock is also available, for an extra measure of security when the door is closed. It can also be used to keep thegliding patio doors open in case you’re ventilating your indoor space or if you have a lot of foot traffic coming through, like when you’re having guests over.
Our hinged French doors use a five-point locking mechanism that runs along the entire length of the door. Instead of the typical single bolt, five bolts are activated with a single movement, making it five times harder to pry open. Exterior keyed locks are also available for all Renewal by Andersen patio doors.
Why Choose Our Patio Doors?
We know how important home security is. This is why our frame materials—including our exclusive Frenchwood®, Perma-Shield®, and Narroline® options—all feature reinforced builds. This not just to keep the frames in stable shape but also to protect it from direct impact, whether it’s hurricane-force winds, a large piece of debris, or an attempt at forced entry. Grilles also add some impact resistance to the door.
We also know how important installation quality is to the integrity of your home security, which is why all our installations undergo a thorough quality check right after installation. Plus, every Renewal by Andersen installation is protected by a lifetime workmanship warranty as part of our Transferable Limited Warranty.
